Since 1982, PAMA has been dedicated to teaching adults.
Although we have a large children's program, we are dedicated
to, and maintain a separate and comprehensive younger and
older adult program.
Our emphasis is on discovering and developing which avenue
of training best suits each student who enters our school. Our
ultimate goal is to merge the hard and soft martial art styles.
The hard training style of martial arts (kenpo, kickboxing, and escrima) along with strong
aerobic and anaerobic conditioning are vital for good health and weight maintenance.
Combined with good practical self-defense skills and awareness, we strive to instill
self-confidence and physical vitality.
Internal martial arts(Tai Chi and Aikido), yoga, and meditation work on instilling a peacefulness
and internal balance for stress reduction and mental and emotional clarity.
We offer private and group instruction for Kenpo Karate, Yoga, Tai Chi, Kickboxing and Self-
Defense, as well as monthly seminars and workshops.
Service clubs, corporations, and social organizations can benefit from our free dimonstrations
and educational talks on self-defense, martial arts and stress reduction. Please call for details.
A martial art from the Phillipines which utilizes weapons of
all types, from sticks to knives, machetes, staffs, and
ultimately, empty hands. The founder, Mr. Rene Latosa,
has been actively involved in teaching at the Petaluma
Academy of Martial Arts since 1982. We have merged
Kenpo Karate and Latosa Escrima to form a more
complete self-defense style.

A Chinese "internal" martial art, often referred to as
"moving meditation". Its graceful, slow movements help to
relax, energize, and heal the body without danger of injury.
The healing aspect of Tai Chi is practiced to attain long life
and a supple body into advanced years. It develops
balance and breath. The martial art aspect of Tai Chi
utilizes internal strength and grappling techniques in faster,
flowing movements of both empty hands and weapons.
This class focuses on basic Karate and Kickboxing drills to improve balance,
hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, speed and power. It is a safe, no contact
class designed to build self-esteem and self-confidence, while getting students
in the best shape ever.
Intermediate and advanced students learn timing and distance, while sparring
with instructors and fellow students. This class is non-competitive and lots of fun.
